  • Principal,
    Content Strategies

    Kevin Danaher is a Principal, Content Strategies, at Haven Tower Group, where he specializes in content creation, communications strategy and media relations. Mr. Danaher has 30 years of corporate communications and media relations experience, with demonstrated proficiency in planning, directing and executing a broad range of marketing and communications campaigns for financial services firms, including broker/dealers and asset managers.

    Most recently, Mr. Danaher worked as a senior vice president with Advisor Group, Inc., the nation's largest network of independent wealth management firms, where he led the firm’s advisor communications, executive messaging and media relations efforts. Mr. Danaher oversaw communications during the firm’s spinoff from AIG to a private equity firm and its subsequent sale. He was also the communication lead for acquisitions that grew Advisor Group’s financial professional count from 4,000 to 11,000.

    Prior to joining Advisor Group, Mr. Danaher worked as senior vice president, marketing communications at J. & W. Seligman & Co., a well-respected institutional investment business with more than 50 investment companies, offshore mutual funds, hedge funds, retirement plans and separately managed accounts. At Seligman, Mr. Danaher was responsible for marketing and product launch communications, branding, public relations and internal communications.

    Mr. Danaher earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Business Administration from St. Joseph’s College.

  • Principal

    Lorene Yue is a Principal at Haven Tower Group where she specializes in content creation, communications strategy and media relations. Ms. Yue has more than 20 years of journalism, public relations, marketing and corporate communications experience.

    Prior to joining Haven Tower Group, she was director of media relations for the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, a non-profit media organization best known for managing the Doomsday Clock. She was also the "voice" of the Professional Convention Management Association as the director of communications in charge of writing executive communications, marketing content, press releases and annual reports. Ms. Yue previously worked as a manager for news and integrated content at DePaul University, the nation's largest Catholic university.

    Ms. Yue honed her writing and storytelling skills as a business reporter for some of the nation's largest daily newspapers including the Chicago Tribune and the Detroit Free Press. She has won multi-media awards for her reporting at Crain's Chicago Business.

    Ms. Yue earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Purdue University.

  • Board Vice Chair

    Mary Osako is Vice Chair of the Board of Advisors for Haven Tower Group, where she provides strategic counsel and growth planning guidance to the firm's leadership. She serves as Vice Chancellor for Strategic Communications at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In this role, she reports directly to UCLA's Chancellor, and oversees communications, public relations, marketing, branding, events and outreach for the nation's top-ranked public university.

    Before her appointment to Vice Chancellor of UCLA, Ms. Osako served as Partner and COO at Haven Tower Group, where she helped set the firm's growth strategy and launched its HTTC (Haven Tower Tech & Consumer) practice, which aligns Haven Tower's leading-edge capabilities in PR strategy and execution with a highly select group of corporate clients in the technology, media, venture capital and consumer spaces.

    She brings 20 years of experience in supporting some of the world's most widely recognized and respected global brands in the technology, media and entertainment sectors, with significant expertise in ongoing communications and crisis management.

    Prior to joining Haven Tower, Ms. Osako served as Chief Communications Officer at Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ: ATVI), reporting directly to the company's Chief Executive Officer and Founder Bobby Kotick. In this role, she had oversight for all aspects of external and internal communications ranging from corporate positioning and community relations to executive and financial communications. During her tenure, Activision Blizzard was recognized for the first time as one of Fortune's 100 Best Places to Work For, as well as part of The Future 50.

    Before joining Activision Blizzard, Ms. Osako led global corporate communications at Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) for half a decade, where she spearheaded initiatives encompassing corporate reputation management, employee communications and events, crisis communications, community relations, executive communications and the launch of Amazon's drone delivery strategy. She was Amazon's chief spokesperson on a broad range of matters including sales tax legislation and working conditions.

    Previously, Ms. Osako served as Chief Communications Officer at Ask.com (formerly Ask Jeeves), a subsidiary within IAC / InterActive Corp (NASDAQ: IAC). In this position, Ms. Osako reported directly to the company's CEO, and led all aspects of communications including social media, community relations, employee, product, consumer and corporate public relations. She also led the company's brand strategy and execution with respect to the company's partnership with NASCAR during her tenure.

    Before joining Ask.com / IAC, Ms. Osako served as Vice President of International and Global Public Policy communications at Yahoo!, where she led the company's international PR function, managing strategic communications and media relations across a broad spectrum of complex reputation management issues.

    Earlier in her career, Ms. Osako held PR roles at Sprint, where she helped launch the company's entry into mobile web services, as well as Novak Communications, a Los Angeles-based boutique PR agency where her clients included the Walt Disney Company and the Los Angeles Music Center.

    Ms. Osako, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UCLA, has been recognized multiple times on The Holmes Report's Influencer 100, an annual compilation of the 100 most influential communications executives around the world.

  • Senior Principal

    Donald Cutler is a Senior Principal at Haven Tower Group, where he specializes in content creation, communications strategy and media relations. Mr. Cutler has 15 years of corporate communications and media relations experience as both an in-house and agency executive, with particularly strong expertise in working with businesses in highly regulated industry sectors.

    Most recently, Mr. Cutler worked as a strategic communications advisor with the Electric Power Research Institute, an international, independent research and development organization, where he led national and international media engagement. Previously, he served as a principal communications strategist for Pacific Gas and Electric’s Regulatory Affairs and Strategy & Policy departments.

    Prior to joining Pacific Gas and Electric, Mr. Cutler worked at Kekst and Company (now known as Kekst CNC), a leading New York City-based public relations firm, where he helped to develop and execute communications and media relations programs for publicly-traded and privately-held companies across a wide range of sectors, including financial services firms.

    Mr. Cutler earned a Bachelor of Arts in international relations and Jewish studies from University of California, Davis.

  • Chief Financial Officer

    Cameron Sun serves as Controller at Haven Tower Group. Mr. Sun brings over 18 years of finance, accounting, operational and strategic planning experience in various industries including advertising, apparel, entertainment, retail and technology.

    Mr. Sun has served as CFO to such companies as KP Fashion, AllSaints USA, NowLive and IMIO. In addition, he has experience working for international companies from Taiwan, Russia, and the United Kingdom to help establish their U.S. operations.

    Mr. Sun received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California and his MBA from Pepperdine University.

  • Principal,
    Administration & Research

    Eric Clapp is a Principal, Administration and Research Manager at Haven Tower, where he manages daily operations and administrative matters for the firm and its clients, as well as providing support to the firm in Account, Legal, and client media tracking.

    Mr. Clapp joins Haven Tower after spending the last three years as a bookkeeper and administrative support professional with M&M Investments, a Los Angeles-based, private real estate investment firm focused on acquisitions and management of multi-residential properties across Southern California.

    Prior to joining M&M Investments, Mr. Clapp served as a bookkeeper and administrative support professional for the Robert Half & Company, a national staffing agency focused on providing bookkeeping, accounting and administrative temps for small to mid-sized businesses.

    Mr. Clapp holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economics from the University of Washington, and hails originally from Seattle.

  • Principal

    Elizabeth Shim is a Principal at Haven Tower Group, where she specializes in content creation and the development of media materials. Ms. Shim has 15 years of experience in energy trading and risk management, private equity business development and global journalism.

    Ms. Shim most recently worked as chief Asia writer for United Press International where she reported on breaking news stories, including the U.S.-North Korea summits and power transitions at Samsung. She is working on her first book, North Korea's Nuclear Cinema, with I.B. Tauris in London, an imprint of Bloomsbury. She has also reported for the Associated Press and has contributed columns to the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong.

    Prior to joining UPI, Ms. Shim worked at the natural gas trading desks of Enron Corp., in Houston, where she helped to develop an in-house fundamental analysis group covering a wide range of energy commodities, including coal and natural gas. In Seoul, South Korea, she worked on tracking deal flow for private equity firm Colony Capital Asia Pacific.

    Ms. Shim earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and philosophy from Wellesley College and a Master’s degree in global journalism and East Asian studies from New York University.

  • Partner & Head of Digital Marketing Strategies

    Katherine Paulson is an independent brand strategy and digital marketing consultant who provides outsourced CMO services in affiliation with Haven Tower. She has over 20 years of financial services experience, with extensive knowledge in the marketing and distribution of insurance products, mutual funds and private funds.

    Her work encompasses comprehensive marketing planning and execution, including brand launches and rebranding programs, development of brand guidelines, email prospecting campaigns, as well as CRM selection and implementation. She supports companies across the wealth management and asset management industries.

    Among other engagements, Ms. Paulson currently serves as the outsourced Chief Marketing Officer of CR Capital Group, a financial services firm that partners with business sponsors to raise capital through the development of distribution platforms that partner closely with wealth management firms across a wide array of business models and sizes. In this role, she is responsible for shaping CR Capital Group's brand and marketing strategy including digital, research and insights functions at the firm.

    Previously, Ms. Paulson was Assistant Vice President and Director of Marketing Communications at MetLife for 11 years where she led the creative and digital marketing teams for the U.S. Retail Annuities business. During her tenure, Ms. Paulson helped grow the company's variable annuity sales from $6 billion to $28 billion. Ms. Paulson was also the Director of Marketing Communications at Altegris where she led the marketing team for the wirehouse, independent and private client channels.

    Earlier in her career, she worked for eight years at Jackson National Life Distributors, Inc. as Director of Product Development where she helped launch and develop the company's flagship variable annuity product suite.

    Ms. Paulson received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Los Angeles. She holds her FINRA 6 and 26 licenses.

  • Partner Emeritus

    David Kronfeld is Partner Emeritus at Haven Tower Group, where he provides strategic counsel to the firm's leadership and guidance to select clients. Mr. Kronfeld was Haven Tower's first hire when Joseph Kuo, Founder & CEO, launched the firm as a four-person boutique agency in October 2011.

    Mr. Kronfeld retired from day-to-day responsibilities in 2018 after playing a crucial role in helping to grow the firm. He has since maintained close ties with Haven Tower as a professional advisor.

    He has over 40 years of financial communications and public relations experience. While much of his work is centered on financial services companies, he also has experience working with various other industries, including everything from manufacturing to biotechnology.

    Previously, Mr. Kronfeld was a Partner at Kekst and Company, where he enjoyed a 16-year career. At Kekst, he served clients by providing strategic corporate communications, crisis communications, corporate image counsel, and media and investor relations support.

    Mr. Kronfeld holds a doctorate in Comparative Literature from Brown University and a certificate from the Careers in Business program at the New York University Stern School of Business. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University.

  • Creative Strategist

    Mr. Gersten, who has over 14 years of experience in video production and editing, most recently served as a partner at Butcher Editorial, a post-production boutique agency based in Los Angeles, where he has worked on projects for clients such as Nike, Starbucks, HBO, Honda, Lexus, Toyota and Microsoft.

    Mr. Gersten attended SUNY Stony Brook, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies, French & Communications.

  • Board Chairman

    Larry Roth is Board Chairman for Haven Tower Group, where he oversees the firm's Board of Advisors, while serving as a principal strategic counselor to Haven Tower's leadership with respect to the firm's growth plans.

    Mr. Roth is Managing Partner of RLR Strategic Partners, a strategic consultancy and M&A advisory firm affiliated with Berkshire Global Advisors, the leading international investment bank focused on supporting transactions between financial services companies.

    He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Oppenheimer & Co., Inc., as well as the Board of Directors of Clark Capital Management Group. Previously, Mr. Roth served as CEO of AIG Advisor Group as well as CEO of Cetera Financial Group, two of the largest networks of independent financial advisors in the country.

    With three decades of experience in the wealth management industry, Mr. Roth supports Haven Tower by aligning the firm's leadership team with the expertise and relationships he has built over time as a CEO of some of the largest firms in the financial services space, past and current Board member for leading wealth management-related companies, investment banker and entrepreneur.

    Head of National Media

    Mr. Manning develops and executes media visibility strategies as well as social media programs, with an emphasis on LinkedIn and Twitter campaigns that are integrated with earned media and paid media plans.

    With over 12 years of experience in public relations and communications, Mr. Manning has extensive experience as both an in-house and agency executive in successfully developing and implementing full-circle marketing, social media and PR campaigns.

    Before joining Haven Tower, Mr. Manning served in a range of marketing and media relations managerial roles for seven years at Pentair (NYSE: PNR), a multi-billion-dollar global industrial manufacturing and consumer products company focused on aquatics and urban farming.

    Most recently, Mr. Manning served as a PR & Media Strategist for Pentair at its Florida corporate offices, with oversight of print and digital advertising, social media management, public relations campaigns and execution of large-scale international events.

    Before joining Pentair, Mr. Manning served as an Assistant Associate for Warschawski, a Baltimore, Maryland-based marketing, PR and advertising agency.

    Mitch Manning attended Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a B.A. in Communication Arts and Sciences with a focus on Public Relations, Crisis Management and Marketing.

    Managing Partner

    In this role, Mr. Dugan oversees the firm’s operations and manages or co-manages a range of client accounts.

    He joined Haven Tower in 2012 after spending five years in the financial services industry working for Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Chase Investment Service Corp. Prior to that, Mr. Dugan was a reporter for The East Valley Tribune in Mesa, Arizona.

    Mr. Dugan attended Arizona State University, earning Bachelor of Arts degrees in both political science and journalism (Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications).

  • Principal

    Brandon Blackwell is a communications leader with award-winning work in public relations, public affairs and journalism. He has been a passionate storyteller for nearly two decades.

    Prior to joining Haven Tower, Mr. Blackwell spent years leading strategic, brand-building public relations campaigns for clients innovating in the B2B technology space — from education and healthcare to cloud networking and artificial intelligence.

    He previously served as Senior Director, Public Relations for Havas Formula and, before then, was Senior Director, Public Relations at Walker Sands.

    Additionally, Mr. Blackwell is a former journalist, having reported on crime, politics and public safety for The Plain Dealer and cleveland.com in Cleveland, Ohio, where he covered everything from presidential campaigns to police reform.

    A decorated military veteran, Mr. Blackwell served as a public affairs specialist in the U.S. Coast Guard, deploying to major disaster responses and providing crisis communications.

    Mr. Blackwell is a graduate of the Defense Information School (DINFOS) and lives in Seattle.

  • Chief Executive Officer

    Mr. Kuo has strategic oversight for the firm and all its client relationships. With 25 years of experience in PR, corporate communications and marketing communications for financial services firms, his work encompasses both ongoing brand elevation campaigns as well as communications support for transactional, regulatory and special situations.

    Before launching Haven Tower in late 2011, he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Public Relations at LPL Financial (NASDAQ: LPLA), one of the largest independent wealth management firms in the country.

    At LPL, he led the company's public relations strategy and execution, while acting as its principal media spokesperson. He served as a key architect of the company’s public positioning in its multi-billion-dollar initial public offering on the NASDAQ Stock Market in November 2010.

    Prior to that, Mr. Kuo was a Partner at Kekst & Company., a leading New York City-based global public relations firm now known as Kekst CNC. Over the course of nearly a decade at Kekst he developed and implemented strategic communications and public visibility programs for financial services firms, with an emphasis on wealth management and asset management firms.

    He has served on the Board of Advisors of Entreda, a leading cybersecurity solutions firm for the wealth management space, providing strategic counsel to the company for two years, in support of its successful sale to Smarsh in 2020.

    Additionally, Mr. Kuo has served on the PR Committee of the Insured Retirement Institute, the advocacy and trade association for the variable annuity industry.

    He currently serves on the Advisory Board of Surge Ventures, a venture studio focused on data governance technology start-ups for the wealth management sector.

    Mr. Kuo earned a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude and phi beta kappa, in History and East Asian Studies from Yale University.

    Philomena O’Donnell is Principal, Content Strategies, at Haven Tower Group, where she specializes in content creation, communications strategy and media relations. She has more than 25 years of corporate/marketing communications experience within the financial services industry.

    Previously, Ms. O’Donnell served with Advisor Group as both Communications Manager and Vice President, Marketing Communications. She has also held communication roles at investment management firms J. & W. Seligman & Co. and Lord, Abbett & Co.

    Ms. O’Donnell earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Trinity University in Washington, DC.
